Yachting in South Florida is a lifestyle that demands robust, resilient connectivity for seamless communications to shore. In pursuit of delivering the ultimate yachting experience, the owners of the luxury yacht “Ocean Serenity” sought to modernize their on-board communications with the latest technology to enhance performance and streamline daily operations.
The vessel’s existing communication setup was proving inadequate for the needs of both crew and passengers, leading to operational inefficiencies and a less enjoyable experience at sea due to slow and unreliable internet. Realizing the necessity for an upgrade in connectivity, the yacht’s management team turned to Sequentex.
The Solution: Starlink with Peplink for Global Maritime Coverage
With extensive experience in upgrading and servicing marine vessels of all types, Sequentex assessed the needs of the “Ocean Serenity” and installed a flat, high-performance Starlink antenna to enable global maritime coverage.
Starlink, the world’s first and largest satellite constellation using Low Earth Orbit (LEO), provides broadband internet capable of supporting streaming, video calls, and other high data rate applications. With coverage of up to 350 Mbps download while at sea, the yacht can transmit data and information in real time, allowing the crew to quickly respond to changing weather conditions, send necessary reports, and adjust navigation plans accordingly.
The installation of pre-commissioned Peplink routers further enhanced the yacht’s connectivity. These advanced routers act as a conduit between Starlink and other mobile internet sources, working in harmony to combine multiple WAN sources into a single virtual connection. Thanks to the combined power of these technologies, online communications on board the “Ocean Serenity” have become exceptionally resilient, withstanding even the most extreme conditions.
Starlink’s hardware features a compact design and requires minimal above-deck space. To accommodate the luxurious and dynamic setting of the yacht, Sequentex completed the installation within several hours.
